Eco Warriors
Sun Hill Junior School proud to continue our Eco-Committee group for another year. This group provides our pupils with a fantastic opportunity to meet regularly, share ideas and discuss actions that can make our schools more eco-friendly. The Eco-Committee takes the lead on environmental initiatives within school and our wider community.
What is the Eco-Committee?
The Eco-Committee is a group formed by environmentally-centred pupils from across the year groups who are mentored by an adult eco-coordinator. Our eco-committee includes additional backing from The Perins MAT H&S and Estates manager, teachers, non-teaching staff, administration, and parents who support the school community on the Green Flag journey.
What does the Eco-Committee do?
The Eco-Committee is responsible for guiding the school through the 7-Step journey to achieve their International Green Flag Award.
The committee:
-
organise regular meetings, at least twice per term, to discuss environmental action for the school;
-
carry out an environmental review and develop an action plan;
-
record minutes showing the results of group discussion and actions to be taken;
-
consult the whole school in the decision-making process;
-
share progress with the school community and promote the ethos of environmental education.
